Personal Summary (no spoilers):

not much time had passed since Leo, the brother of the Hathaway family, had inherited the title Viscount of Ramsey, but even her new status had been encouraging him to fight for his life and his family, disappeared on countless occasions for days to drown in alcohol and spend money they did not have. And one of those eternal and worrying disappearance of Lord Ramsay, when Amelia Hathaway , concerned about the life of his brother decided to go in their search to places that a lady should never step on at night.

Search Amelia carried a famous gaming club of ill repute, where he will meet for the first time with Cam Rohan, manager of the club and a man who will help him find his brother.

Cam Rohan, half gypsy half Irish, is a man many years ago was forced to put aside their gypsy roots, thanks to its enormous intelligence has managed to penetrate society British and reap a huge fortune by their nature Roma, rather than merely satisfy shame. The appearance of Amelia in his life his senses alert, and be more than willing to walk away from her, for her wish in life is to find his tribe and live in freedom the rest of his days, leaving behind the concerns, rules and restrictions social.

Meanwhile, Amelia Hathaway, a woman who has decided to remain unmarried to care for his family, not only will lead to his brother on a path that is not willing to follow, but will have to take responsibility for three other sisters, each more complicated. And if this were not enough, you also must deal with Cam Rohan, a man who has decided to stop putting your life upside down and bring down the strength and wisdom that has always characterized.

Personal Opinion (no spoilers):

confess that not long ago I tested the pen of Lisa Kleypas with The old magic (pending review) , but it was so wonderful reading and I was so amazed by the story I I've gotten a little crazy buying his books. This book I bought in bids Court last month to 5.75 € in editing Vergara (you're still in time to get it!), And as I have the series in the same edition I ordered the second in a bookstore without having yet read the first. But yesterday, one of my biggest dilemmas about what to read, I decided to read it and I have to say no I regret having been so consumed, because I've been more than satisfied. I devoured in just one day, and that stories of this author have something that can not stop reading and get into the skin of the characters.

The history tells us about the precarious living conditions in the Hathaway family after having been dragged by major disasters, like the death of their parents or terrible scarlet fever, which was presented in taking lives a very dear (the love of Leo) and leaving a sister Hathaway (Win) frail and sick for life. Narrated in the third person from the point of view of the main characters (though more from Amelia), we moved to 1840, Hampshire, England.

Pen Lisa Kleypas is bright, able to transmit you at all times the feelings of the characters and dragging them to live their joys and tragedies. The setting is exquisite, with descriptions and necessary for not to bore and a rich documentation of the time, that move you to manage time and follow the characters to follow and bend the rules of protocol.

However, what most surprised and fascinated me, is any nature with regard to Roma. She says simply and delicacy, some of their customs, their way of life, beliefs, etc., and here we are introduced to two characters greatly attached to their roots. Cam and Merripen (although this character know very little) are two men who feel strongly attracted by nature, are superstitious and believe in fate, reincarnation, spirits, magic and all that they have been taught since childhood. It is interesting to know another culture and letting yourself get trapped by it.

Quote book:
A Roma did not feel at home between four walls. He did not like living in houses or rooms closed to the sky, wind and sun, and stars. Or suck the air tainted with smell of wax polish food and soil. For the first time in years, Cam felt a sudden wave of panic. He fought to control it and focus on the task at hand ... getting rid of the peculiar couple who were in the parlor.

As characters are undoubtedly the highlight of the novel. We find Hathaway's eccentric family, each brother with his unique personal touch that makes it very special. Amelia (protagonist of the story. Then talk about it more carefully), Winnifred (it is the sickly sister, who after passing the scarlet fever was very weak and doctors said would never achieve full recovery) Poppy (the next in age, a cheerful girl), Beatrix (the youngest of the sisters, with kleptomaniac tendencies as the only solution to family problems), and Leo (Lord Ramsay, whose title was Viscount had inherited very little. Is the older brother and although it should be the head of the family and ensure the protection of his sisters, his fiancee's death has led to a state of apathy and their only desire is to end his life and join her).

Outside the brothers have to Hathaways Cam (protagonist of this story. Now I talk about it more carefully) and Merripen (also of Roma origin. He lives with the Hathaways as a member of the family who found him on the brink of death many years ago. The young man cares for the family, feeling a special affection for Win). Besides the characters already mentioned, we will have a good secondary cast of lesser importance, although its relevance to the plot.

Amelia is a woman who after a painful heartbreak has decided never again to surrender to love, and is more than willing to assume the role of maid, protect your family and provide a future to each of them, forgetting their own desires . controller is a woman, determined and fiercely independent . will load with all family problems swallowing the bitterness and tears, and will not be aware of their need for support, attention and their energies are consumed by leaps and bounds to be wrapped in strong arms of Ham, the comfort and help not collapse.

Quote book:
"Miss Hathaway ... are you really sure that the destinono had nothing to do with that we've found tonight? She had trouble breathing.
- Bast-bastantesegura.
Rohan leaned his head.
- Yde "is likely to never meet again?
- Bastanteprobable. - He was too big and estabademasiado close. Nervously, Amelia tried to collect his thoughts, Peros he scattered like matchsticks scattered on the floor ... and then he lasencendió when his warm breath brushed his cheek.
- Esperoque is right. God help me if ever I have to face consequences wings.
- what? " - Amelia's voice was barely unsusurro.
- Deest. - Cam took him by the neck and covered it with his mouth.

Cam, deprocedencia gypsy man was deprived of his tribe and had to be hollow solodentro of British society, is a fascinating character, ideas Yllen clear life. Following Roma nature, hates the rich, to live indoors and the oppression that comes with living around people conobligaciones, rules and customs very different from yours s . unhombre Despite being successful in work that has reaped a huge fortune, feel empty, like a weirdo who can not find their place in the world, a tiger in a cage salvajedentro thick bars and people around him observabancon weaknesses attention seeking and willing to tame .

Quote book:
"I'm used to," he said nonchalantly, .También me about gypsies. Actually, I'm a mongrel ... a stud poshram Roma gypsy mother and born of Irish parents, a gadjo. And family ellinaje is given by the father, I'm not well considered interlaced Roma. What could be worse for Roma customs susmujeres that one marries a gadjo? [...]
"The Hathaway also are strangers," she said. Esobvio that we are not educated to take their place in the aristocracy. Ningunode us possesses the necessary education and has no intention of acquiring it. Kacena in Stony Cross Park will be a great show ... I assure you that the finalacabarán echándonos kicking.

Cam ellarepresenta For all the things you need to escape, a woman who necesitacontrolarlo everything around and observe the rules that are imposed. Sucabeza warned time and again not to see her again, but his soul leasegura no better place nestled in the arms of that woman tandeliciosa and temperamental. Amelia And, it is pure uncertainty, a hermosolaberinto of one who knows that he can never leave, and therefore strives to evitarcualquier type of approach, although his body and his heart will cry all locontrario .

Quote book:
- What do you say, Miss Hathaway ...? What if the winged horse to invite her to fly at midnight over the land and seas? Would you choose the adventure, or stay safe at home? She could not look away from yours. Topaz eyes sparkled with amusement, not to the innocent mischief of a child, but something much more dangerous. Amelia could almost believe he could actually change shape, appear at his window one night and be on their black wings ...
"I stay at home, of course, managed to say in a sensible tone. I like adventures.
"I think if you like. I think that in a moment of weakness, would wonder to herself.
"I have no moments of weakness. Or at least not that kind.
Her laughter enveloped her like a cloud of smoke.
"The will.

The relationship essincera, sweet and passionate. It's a really nice relationship and more sianalizamos the situation. Hathaway's family is in pieces, and Amelia muchoque want to load on his shoulders all the responsibility, there is no way to return to rebuild it, because for much will that be still unamujer, and has decided to remain unmarried to care his family. Cam nosólo disarm their barriers and conquer her heart, but the reconfortaráy will help bring up his ramshackle family.

Quote book:
"Mr. Rohan, we should not ...
"That is as it should kiss me, Amelia. "He cradled his face in his palms, ladeándosela with skill. The nose should be tilted to one side. "The left disoriented to touch her again with the mouth, and cause a wave of warm sensuality. It tastes like sweet tea.
- I know how to kiss!
- Really? "He ran his thumb over her lips burning from the kiss, urging her to open them. So demuéstremelo whispered. Let me in, Amelia.
in her life She never thought that a man would say something so outrageous. And if words were improper, the sparkle in her eyes was definitely devastating.
"I'm ... I'm an old maid. He pronounced the word as if it were a talisman. Everyone knew that the Knights did not make them attractive case to the maids. But apparently, no one had bothered to tell Cam Rohan. A sly smile deepened the dimples in Cam.
"That will keep me safe. "She tried to pull away, but Cam returned to get his face to his. I can not seem to leave her alone. In fact, I had to reconsider everything he thought of the maids.

addition, for those who have read The ancient magi to , we find ourselves immersed in the land of the Westcliff (Stony Cross Park), whose owner, the Earl of Westcliff (in turn leading to happened in the fall, the second book in the series vases or wallflowers) will remember as the brother of Aline.

And the bad? The downside of the novel in my opinion, has to do with the amount of unanswered questions and issues that remain open the next book. It would take several chapters for the story to remain closed and perfect and this is the reason why my grade is not higher.

Conclusion: A beautiful story that opens the door to a saga that has all the ingredients to improve book to book. A book that starts out the importance of family ties personal sacrifices and the need to feel safe and loved. A beautiful love story, passionate and emotional, with some players who manage to captivate so diverse in their personality. I am anxious to read the second part, knowing the players, I'm sure it will be more intense than this.
